Reflecting on an Incredible 2025 at We Make Footballers Blackwood – And Why 2026 Will Be Even Bigger

Gwent
22 December 2025

As 2025 comes to a close, it feels like the perfect moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate just how special this year has been for We Make Footballers Blackwood.

What started as a clear vision — to deliver the highest-quality football coaching experience for children in our local community — has grown into something far bigger than we could have imagined. 2025 has been a year of growth, development, and unforgettable moments, and none of it would have been possible without our players, parents, and coaches.

A Year of Growth – On and Off the Pitch

One of the standout features of 2025 has been the growth of our Blackwood academy. Week after week, we have welcomed more children through our doors, ranging from our youngest Mini Ballers taking their first touches of a football, right through to older players refining their technique, confidence, and understanding of the game.

Our sessions have consistently been full of energy, smiles, and hard work. Seeing players arrive excited, challenge themselves during sessions, and leave with confidence is exactly why We Make Footballers exists. The progress made by so many of our players this year — technically, physically, and socially — has been genuinely inspiring.

Developing More Than Just Footballers

At We Make Footballers Blackwood, 2025 reinforced something we believe strongly in: football is about more than just skills.

Throughout the year, we’ve focused on helping players develop:

  • Confidence and self-belief

  • Resilience and a growth mindset

  • Communication and teamwork

  • A love for learning and improvement

These values have been evident every week on the pitch. Players encouraging each other, showing bravery to try new skills, and celebrating progress — not just goals — is something we are extremely proud of.

A Community We’re Proud to Be Part Of

Another highlight of 2025 has been the sense of community around our Blackwood academy. Parents supporting from the sidelines, children forming friendships, and families feeling part of something positive and welcoming — this is the culture we aim to build.

We are incredibly grateful for the trust parents place in us. Choosing where your child trains matters, and we never take that responsibility lightly. Your continued support, feedback, and enthusiasm have played a huge role in making 2025 such a success.

Raising Standards Every Single Week

From session planning to coach development, 2025 was also about raising standards. Every session has been carefully designed to be engaging, age-appropriate, and aligned with best practice in youth development. We’ve continued to challenge ourselves as coaches to deliver sessions that are not only fun, but genuinely impactful.

Our commitment remains the same: every child deserves quality coaching in a positive, supportive environment.

Looking Ahead to an Exciting 2026

If 2025 was about growth and foundation-building, 2026 is about momentum.

We are incredibly excited about what’s ahead for We Make Footballers Blackwood. The new year will bring:

  • Even more engaging session themes and skill focuses

  • Continued player progression pathways

  • New initiatives and opportunities for our players

  • A renewed commitment to making every session the highlight of each child’s week

Our ambition for 2026 is simple but powerful: to keep improving, keep learning, and keep delivering the very best football experience possible for children in Blackwood and the surrounding area.

Thank You

To every player who trained with us in 2025 — thank you for your effort, energy, and enthusiasm.
To every parent and carer — thank you for your trust and support.
And to our coaching team — thank you for your passion and professionalism week in, week out.

We are proud of what we’ve built together in 2025, and we cannot wait to see what 2026 brings.

Here’s to another year of football, fun, and development at We Make Footballers Blackwood.
