New Junior Football Teams Launching in Blackwood

Gwent
18 February 2026

Following the continued growth of our weekly football training sessions in Blackwood, Ebbw Vale, Tredegar and Brynmawr, we are now introducing a structured pathway for players who want to take the next step from technical training into competitive grassroots football.

⚽ A New Local Football Club for Children in Blackwood

Many parents attending our weekly kids football training in Blackwood often ask:

“Are there any junior football teams or football clubs near me that my child can join locally?”

The launch of WMF Gwent Teams will now provide:

  • Local youth football teams in Blackwood

  • Development-focused grassroots matchdays

  • A supportive environment to apply technical skills in games

  • A clear transition from football training into team football

WMF Gwent Teams will operate as a local development-focused football club in Blackwood, supporting children aged 4–12 across Gwent and providing opportunities to represent WMF in structured matches against other local junior football teams across South Wales.

📈 From Football Training to Matchday

At We Make Footballers, our sessions focus on:

  • Sunday Mini Ballers (ages 2–3)

Will soon have the opportunity to:

🧠 Development-Focused Junior Football in Blackwood

Unlike many traditional grassroots football clubs, WMF Gwent Teams will prioritise:

  • Technical confidence

  • Encouraging creativity on the ball

  • Game intelligence through decision making

  • Long-term player development over short-term results

Our philosophy is simple:

Confident players become better teammates.

By maintaining the same technical principles used in our weekly football coaching sessions, WMF Gwent Teams will aim to promote bravery in possession, encourage players to take on opponents, and support individual expression within a team framework.
