Children’s football teams in Surbiton

What is the best part about playing football? While children love being taught how to Cruyff Turn or shoot like Ronaldo and will happily kick a ball around in the back garden for hours, there really is nothing like playing in a proper game and match time!

Signing up to a football team no matter the age of the player is a big decision, but there are always plenty of options in West London. It’s not always an easy or straightforward decision either – after all, you need to find a club that is fun to play for as well as helping to develop your child’s skills. The best way to find out which team is the perfect fit for you and your child is to start having conversations, visit the sessions and speaking with parents.

If you need a little help with where to start, then have a look at this little list of how you can find a good football team for your child in the Surbiton area.

Hampton & Richmond Borough Youth FC

Hampton & Richmond Borough Youth are attached to the senior section of one of the area’s most well-known and successful semi-professional clubs.

They cater for children aged between five and 18-years-old with most teams competing in the Surrey Youth League. The ethos of the club is very much community based with football provided for players of all levels and a focus on development of skills and fun.

Aside from playing the game, there are also opportunities to get involved with Hampton & Richmond Borough themselves. Players get free entry to senior games at the Beveree and many of the junior teams have enjoyed training, behind-the-scenes tours and on-the-pitch experiences at home fixtures.

Kingston Little League

If you can’t narrow your decision down to one team, then why not simply sign your child up for an entire league? That’s the novelty behind the Kingston Little League which offers competitive football every Saturday for children aged between five and 15.

When your child joins the KLL, they’ll be assigned to a team. Nobody is picked on ability, meaning that everyone gets the chance to play in mixed sides which helps to develop skills in all players. Whilst there is a competitive element involved, the onus is more on sportsmanship, friendship and fun.

KLL have two sites where matches take place. Those between the ages of five and nine are based at Dinton Field while the nine to 15-year-olds compete at Latchmere Recreation Ground.

We Make Footballers

One of the leading deliverers of football coaching in London with a strong presence in the West, We Make Footballers have just launched their Surbiton Academy. They hold coaching sessions every Tuesday night for players of all abilities aged between 4 and 12 at Southborough High School which is few minutes away from central Surbiton.

There are various benefits to be had from enrolling your child with We Make Footballers, including the links that the academy forges with local grassroots clubs in Surrey and Middlesex. As a result, those players who are ready to join a team are recommended to We Make Footballers’ partner clubs in order to boost their development by taking part in regular matches.
