The Facility

At We Make Footballers, we run a girls football programme which consists of weekly sessions during the school term time and holiday camps during the half term weeks to optimise our player’s development. Our girl’s football programmes are held in very high regard with a dedicated, all female coaching team leading and inspiring the next generation. Our female coaches have played from amateur level to being a part of professional clubs across a range of positions to ensure we are inclusive to every girl’s needs and desires.

Our values are fun, safety, passion and development and we use these to create the most inclusive environment for our girls to facilitate their learning. Each week we pose a different theme to our players and structure our sessions to maximise fun and development. At WMF we take pride in our girl’s programme and put in maximum time, effort and resources to ensure its success in providing an opportunity for girls to play football.

With weekly themes, the sessions will be structured around a topic such as skills, teamwork, shooting, passing and many more! This is in addition to the girls developing their technical ability, speed, movement, agility, fitness and game understanding. We are aware that football is a game for all and this carefully structured syllabus is considerate of the girls that we have attending, their ability and how to optimise their learning.

Our sessions are bursting with opportunities for the girls to develop their character, passion and desire to play the game. The 39 syllabus will be pre-planned to ensure our players develop while enjoying the variety each week. We are passionate about player development and signposting girls to local clubs and opportunities to get involved with football outside of their WMF sessions. For this reason, we have made it a priority to create a partnership with grassroots clubs, such as Richmond Park FC and NPL. In addition to this, we have links with local academies to ensure that beginners and the most gifted players have an avenue to continue and optimise their football journey. We are also involved in the Talent ID in partnership with Chelsea Football Club. This is a key event within our calendar with over 80 girls in attendance, one of the biggest events in London and we are proud to support it.

We welcome girls of all abilities between the ages of 5-13. With female football receiving increasingly more attention, funding and resources, we think it is imperative to ensure girls who have never kicked a ball before to girls who have played all their life receive the best coaching to help their development. We have now coached over 200 players from all backgrounds and across a range of abilities and look forward to welcoming many more!

At We Make Footballers we are in partnership with the Wildcats Programme who run a non-competitive initiative to get girls into football, have fun and meet new friends. It is open to girls between the ages of 5-11 years old and those of all abilities are welcome. The idea is to generate playing opportunities for girls who wouldn’t necessarily join a team or established football centre to get involved and have fun. The key values behind the programme are to create an open and inclusive football environment by partnering with commercial football coaching companies and grassroots clubs. There is scope to generate an inclusive setting with a pathway into grassroots football if the girls desire. The wildcats programme aims to boost confidence with 81% of the parents stating their daughters grew with confidence from the centres. We strive to get the girls active whilst meeting new people, with 71% of parents stating their daughters found new friends at the centre.

All our coaches are really passionate about female football and know the importance of growing girls football particularly in our local area. It is a cause close to all the coaches’ hearts and something everyone strives toward. The more girls we have playing now means that more will play in the future alongside the progression of sport becoming a more open and inclusive sport. Fundamentally the level of women’s football will increase and progress as the more players we have at the bottom, the better the level is at the top. Our aim is to provide a fun environment for girls of all abilities and help as many girls as possible form positive relationships with football.
