How can football coaching in Surbiton help my child develop?

We Make Footballers

Football isn’t just about kicking a ball around every week. There’s much more to it than that. It’s brilliant physical exercise, it involves an extended social circle and it helps develop skills that stretch far beyond the football pitch.
At We Make Footballers Surbiton, our aim is to improve each child’s footballing ability – but also to help give them confidence and other tools which are transferable to everyday life.
Here’s how a football coaching company like We Make Footballers can help your child develop.

Learn teamwork

No football or sports team can function effectively without teamwork. By playing with a group each week during small sided games, a child learns about the importance of working together towards a common goal.

They’ll understand that being a good team player and learn to encourage their friends when their matches take place is a big part of our weekly sessions.

Improved communication skills

It’s important for players to become effective communicators. That happens naturally as everyone who is signed up to our football coaching academy already has a shared interest which they can talk about – football!

However, those who are new to the sport will also become immersed in the sport with our mini-games and enthusiastic coaching team. Our coaches work hard each week to ensure players enjoy themselves and have fun as this is the key to a positive learning environment.

But children also learn the importance of clear communication through various games, challenges and drills which aid player development.

New friends and a new social circle

One of the most satisfying aspects of We Make Footballers is seeing previously shy children come out of their shell, gain confidence and even make new friends.

As already noted, everyone there has a common interest in football. Many lifelong friendships are forged on the football pitch, which makes a football coaching programme the ideal place for a child to meet like minded children.

Development of confidence

Football can help to breed confidence in children. Coaches look to encourage children to be the best that they can be.

That will involve helping them to complete that pass with their weaker foot or partnering up with a new friend and working together. When a child finally masters these new skills, then their self-esteem receives a real boost, making them a more confident individual as they realise that with hard work and dedication, almost anything is achievable.

Learn how to deal with setbacks

On the flip side of gaining confidence, football can help a child learn how to deal with setbacks. Unless a child is Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, chances are that they are going to experience losing as part of a team or come across skills which are hard to master initially.

Learning how to cope with these setbacks and overcome them is an important skill in a child’s development ,as life rarely goes exactly the way we want it to. Setbacks on a football pitch, such as making the wrong decision, can also teach a child the value of learning from their mistakes.

Where should we train?

We Make Footballers Surbiton create a fun, safe and welcoming environment in which players feel able to try new skills, make mistakes and learn from them. Coaches focus on ensuring that players are comfortable but always learning new things. By mixing discovery learning with fun games, each session flies by and players develop each week without even realizing it!

Thefirst session is completely free, so come and give it a go! We train every Tuesday after-school at Southborough High-School in Surbiton with indoor facilities available in the winter and outdoor facilities in the summer.
