What type of football training can help my child join a team in Kingston

How do you get your child ready to join a local football team? It’s a question that many parents across London will be pondering as they try to help their budding young Raheem Sterling or Lucy Bronze take their first steps to stardom.

Joining a team may be the first steps of your child’s football journey and parents want this to be a positive experience.

At the We Make Footballers Kingston Academy, we pride ourselves on our ability to prepare young players for when the time comes for them to sign for a club. Here’s how WMF weekly training can help your child join a local team.

Regular sessions lead to improved players

The best way that young players can improve their skill levels is by regular practice – which is something that they are guaranteed to get at our Kingston sessions.

Training on a weekly basis leads to a rapid increase in ability. Our coaches will know which areas that individuals perhaps require a little more work on and so they can tailor sessions to those needs, meaning that there is never a wasted week.

Each week has a different theme with new games and practices to ensure that we build each player’s football memory and experience. By focusing on repetition in each class, we ensure players get the maximum amount of playing time and develop their fundamental skills.

We’re also not affected by the weather. The facilities at the Tiffin Girls’ School where we are based mean that coaching takes place all year round, so your child will never have to miss a week of practice. In winter months we train indoors and as summer comes we progress to larger spaces outside.

Improved fitness levels

If you want to play football in a team environment, then you need to be relatively fit to do it. Football fitness is something that you can only really pick up through playing the sport regularly, which means that if you think you can go straight into a game situation without any prior preparation, then you could be in for a rude awakening.

Attending weekly training sessions at We Make Footballers Kingston will drastically improve a young player’s fitness levels, helping them to cope when it comes to stepping into a competitive match.

Sessions develop the football fundamentals but also ensure a player’s balance, coordination, strength, speed and agility are being worked on continuously.

1v1 coaching

It isn’t just the regular contact between our coaches and their players that lead to substantial improvements. It is also the type and style of training we deliver at each class.

With skill based warm up, followed by two different practices focusing on the theme of the week we help players develop specific areas of their game. Next, we move into matches with a focus on 1vs1 games.

Players will learn how to beat another player with the ball and defend too. By switching between attacking and defending, we create well-rounded players who understand each area of the game. After the first few sessions, players see a boost in confidence as they take the skills they have learnt into these matches.

Being confident in a 1vs1 situation is something that the FA have promoted over the last few years, meaning that many coaches can spot this quality in a player.

Recommended clubs and partner teams

We Make Footballers Kingston have partnered with local teams in the Kingston area, providing an important link between football training and playing in competitive matches.

It means that when we feel a player is ready to step into a matchday environment, we can recommend them to the right club at the right time. We’re here to make the transition from learning the game to playing it in a team environment as smooth as possible.
