Girls’ football in Kingston

We Make Footballers
01 April 2022

There’s a new way for football-mad girls in Kingston to get involved in the beautiful game – at the We Make Footballers Kingston Academy.

Girls football continues to grow at an astonishing rate. The Lionesses had over 70,000 fans at their recent Wembley fixture with Germany and the Women’s Super League attendance record has been broken twice already this season. Network channels are now broadcasting more professional games too.

With more and more girls taking up the sport, here’s why the We Make Footballers Kingston is the perfect place for female players to develop their skills.

Top class girls’ coaching in Kingston

We Make Footballers Kingston Academy run mixed classes that focus on helping players develop to be the best they can.

By focussing on the individual, WMF is able to help improve players no matter what their ability when they sign up for the academy – with all of this taking place in a fun and safe environment.

The training follows the FA four corner model of focusing on these game areas: technical, psychological, physical and social. This creates well-rounded players who have a deep understanding of the game and strong fundamentals.

Our coaching policy is to ensure we have strong female role models at every session, these coaches are FA qualified and have all played a high level of football.

Partnership with Richmond Park FC

We Make Footballers Kingston Academy has forged links with Richmond Park FC, providing a mutually beneficial partnership for both parties. Girls who are ready to take their footballing skills into game situations by signing up for a team can be recommended straight to Richmond Park from We Make Footballers.

Richmond Park run girls’ sides from Under 8s right the way through to adult football. It’s a club that can provide for players for their entire footballing lives should they wish to stay, giving it a real family feel.

Coming the other way, any girls who join Richmond Park but might benefit from additional coaching can join We Make Footballers, helping to turn them into better players in the process.

Girls work under the expert eye of Coach Eve

Coach Eve heads up the We Make Footballers Kingston Academy, is FA level 2 qualified, played for Durham University Women’s football club and is also a coach for Richmond Park FC! She’s run the WMF Girls’ Programme for the past two years, helping 15 players to join grassroots teams with three securing trials at academy development programmes.

Coach Eve has also been a regular at FA Wildcats training days, meaning that she is fully qualified to help girls get the most out of football and start their journey.

Future expansions

Among Coach Eve’s ambitions for the Kingston Academy include a dedicated, girls only football coaching programme. The more girls who sign up with We Make Footballers Kingston Academy, the more achievable that becomes – and there really hasn’t been a better time to get involved!
