At We Make Footballers® we recruit good people and train them to be great coaches. However it is essential they meet our strict criteria before they begin our training programme.

Our coaches must be bursting with enthusiasm and energy. They will be dealing with young children, who need high energy levels to equal their own. We are looking for the type of coaches who could also be children’s

    television presenters!

Our senior coaches must understand the game to a high level. Some of our players will be going to play at professional academies and the chil- dren will only have as much knowledge as they are given from their coaches.

The majority of our coaches have played at a very high level. We believe it is much harder to be a top coach if you haven’t played the game to a reasonable standard yourself. Because our coaches have played at top academies and pro- fessional clubs themselves, they are able to demonstrate all technical aspects of the game and advise on the game from a player’s

    point of view.

Our coaches have wonderful creative imagina- tions, which means they can come down to the children’s level and create amazing, fun experi- ences for the players. Young children are far more likely to learn if the coach is tapping into their world with pirates, aliens and monsters!

Our academy managers are a minimum FA level 3 qualified with younger coaches Level 1 and 2 qualified. We also hold our own WMF exams which coaches must complete.

Coaches and staff members working for We Make Footballers® must hold a valid DBS check before they can begin working with any children.

To become a senior coach with We Make Footballers®, a coach will need to have coached for a period of 2 years before they will have gained enough experience to lead sessions. This policy means our coaches are always experienced enough to ensure sessions

    continue at the highest level.
